Timers

An easy way to save energy is by using timers. Timers can be programmed around your specific schedule to automatically start or stop appliances and reduce energy usage throughout your home.

Product Facts:

  • There are many different kinds of timers including: digital, electromechanical, manual, mechanical, plug-in, and programmable.
  • Timers can be used with lighting fixtures, small appliances, and office equipment.

Tips:

  • Timers are easy to find at just about any discount or hardware store and vary in price from a few dollars up to a hundred dollars.
  • Take timers a step further by plugging in all your cell phone and electronic device chargers on a power strip plugged into a timer. This allows the devices to charge at night and then turns them off during the day. The energy savings add up quickly, especially when you are using many chargers.

Install rubber gaskets behind outlets and switch plates on exterior walls.
