Light Fixtures

Wall Sconce

Facts and Products Knowledge:

  • Uses long-lasting pin-based bulbs with an average replacement once every 7 years.
  • Has excellent color rendering (CRI), are flicker-free with no hum and are instant-on.
  • All ENERGY STAR Light Fixtures carry at least a 2 year warranty.

Popular Lighting Fixture Applications:

Suspended Down Lights – direct most of the light downward. Use halogen or ENERGY STAR compact fluorescent lamps to replace incandescent A-lamps and globe compact fluorescent lamps to replace globe incandescent lamps.

Recessed Down Lights – direct light downward, but in a symmetrical distribution, also referred to as “cans” and “high hats.” Replace incandescent lights with more energy efficient lamps. It is better to use an ENERGY STAR reflector CFL than a spiral CFL since the design of the reflector evenly distributes the light down to the task area.

Shelf and Display Cabinet Lighting – accents collections of objects and art and is used to light shelves in storage areas. To save energy, consider ENERGY STAR linear fluorescent lamps and use a timer.

Architectural Valances – direct light both upward and downward and for maximum energy efficiency, use ENERGY STAR linear fluorescent lamps.

Under Cabinet Lighting – installed below an upper cabinet to direct light down toward a work surface. For best results, use the longest ENERGY STAR linear fluorescent lamp that will fill at least two thirds of the cabinet width.

Torchiere – free standing lamp with a shallow bowl-shaped light fixture mounted to a pole. Directs light upward.

Ceiling Fan with Light – ENERGY STAR qualified ceiling fans are 50% more efficient than standard models with improved motors and blade designs. Purchase an ENERGY STAR qualified light kit for fans that do not include lighting.

Install rubber gaskets behind outlets and switch plates on exterior walls.
