Dishwashers

ENERGY STAR® qualified dishwashers use up to 30% less energy than the federal minimum standard for energy consumption and will save up to $100 in energy costs annually. They are also more efficient, work faster and disinfect better than washing by hand.

Facts & Product Knowledge:

  • The higher the Energy Factor, the more efficient the dishwasher. Currently, all ENERGY STAR qualified dishwashers must have a minimum Energy Factor of 0.65.
  • The average ENERGY STAR qualified dishwasher uses 4 gallons per cycle while the average non-qualified dishwasher uses 6 gallons per cycle.

Tips:

  • Choose the right size for your household needs and choose a unit with several wash cycle selections.
  • Run your dishwasher with a full load. Most of the energy used by a dishwasher goes to heat water.
  • Run appliances during off-peak hours, which are early in the morning or late at night, to help relieve the power load during the day.
  • Avoid using the heat-dry, rinse-hold and pre-rinse features. Instead, use your dishwasher’s air-dry option.

Install rubber gaskets behind outlets and switch plates on exterior walls.
